#YearOfRoads: You only tarred the road leading to your house and left us in the dust – Vim Lady to Road Minister

You only tarred the road leading to your house and left us in the dust – Vim Lady to Road Minister

The vocal radio and TV journalist, Afia Pokuaa a.k.a Vim Lady has once again hit hard on the Road minister Amoako Attah. According to Vim Lady, Mr. Amoako Attah has been singing praises with ‘Year of Roads’ mantra but there is absolutely nothing for him to show Ghanaians in terms of roads in the country.

“Amoako Atta has touted the year of roads on several platforms and has backed it with English Language. When he hears this he will be angry with me but I will say that the year of roads is only happening in the Minister’s area and East Legon that’s it.

I leave in Community eleven which is close to the Minister’s area but in my community, we never benefited from the year of roads. Amoako Attah the Minister for Highways house is the only place that benefitted from the year of roads,” she said on Okay FM.

According to her, the much-touted Year of Roads can only be found at East Legon and within the community where Amoako Attah lives.

Afia Pokuaa complained bitterly about the annual floods in some parts of the country especially in the Greater Accra Region and some parts of the Volta Region.

To her, it has become a worry that each year, the country has to battle with floods that displace people from their homes.

The President of Ghana during his inaugural speech after he was sworn in for his second term indicated that his government was committed to ensuring that the road infrastructure deficit in the country is bridged.

“Our roads are being constructed at a much faster pace than before. And yes, I acknowledge that there are still many more kilometers to construct.

“We defined last year as the year of roads, this year [2021] will be the second year of roads. As we continue in our focus of dealing with the deficit in road infrastructure.” These were the exact words of President Akufo-Addo in his second term inaugural speech.
