Ukrainian President Zelensky Holds Talks with Ghana’s President Mahama on Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced a renewed commitment to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties with Ghana, following a productive conversation with Ghana’s President, H.E. John Dramani Mahama.

In a statement posted on social media, President Zelensky revealed that the two leaders held a constructive dialogue focused on deepening cooperation, particularly in the agro-industrial sector. He emphasized a mutual interest in establishing a food logistics hub in Ghana, aimed at improving food security and trade logistics within West Africa and beyond.

“We share a mutual interest in developing bilateral cooperation,” President Zelensky said. “We discussed areas where we can already deepen our partnership, first and foremost in the agro-industrial sector and the creation of a food logistics hub in Ghana.”

The two presidents agreed to hold a ministerial-level meeting in the near future to formalize discussions, with a Ukrainian delegation expected to visit Ghana soon.

The talks also covered Ukraine’s cutting-edge defense and technological advancements. Ghana reportedly expressed interest in acquiring Ukrainian drone technologies and leveraging Ukraine’s wartime innovations to bolster its own border security. President Zelensky confirmed that Ghana is willing to finance certain aspects of Ukraine’s defense production capabilities, particularly in drone manufacturing.

“Ghana is also interested in our technologies, the production of various types of drones, and the experience Ukraine has gained during this war,” Zelensky stated. “Ghana is ready to finance our production, and we are ready to help our partners secure their borders.”

In a gesture of continued diplomatic engagement, President Zelensky extended a formal invitation to President Mahama to visit Ukraine.

This high-level conversation marks a significant step in enhancing Ghana-Ukraine relations and reflects Ghana’s growing strategic interest in leveraging global partnerships to boost development, innovation, and national security.
