There is nothing to be fixed; everything is working in this country – Matilda Asare reacts to FixTheCountry

There is nothing to be fixed: Kumawood Actress cum politician Matilda Asare has expressed her view on the trending FixTheCountry campaign on Social Media.

In an engagement with Nana Ama McBrown the host of UTV’s United Showbiz and other co-panelists, Matilda emphatically said “there is nothing for this government to fix in this country, everything is working. If you say structures are not working, what do you mean? If you commit a crime right now you will be arrested by the Police, so what are you saying are not working and must be fixed?. In this country, there is no war, children are in school, doctors are not on strike, teachers are not on strike, nurses are not on strike”. Nana Ama quickly chipped in, but our lights are off! Matilda responded – “the lights are not off for four years! The ongoing intermittent power supply is location-specific, it’s not nationwide and it has been explained to Ghanaians why light is not stable in some parts of the country. So those chanting FixTheCountry should tell the government the specific issue they want to be fixed and stop generalizing issues”.

FixTheCountry mantra was started on  Twitter and has been trending for some time now. The conveners of the campaign planned to have a grounds demo on the 9th day of May but the Police have gone for a restraint order from the court with a given reason that the nature of their demonstration will go contrary to the present Executive Instrument on the social gathering.

A check on Twitter has also revealed that the organizers are planning on taking the demo virtual.
