Sunyani: Armed robbers break into GCB Bank ATM, kill security man on duty

A report by arknewsonline.com indicates that a security officer deployed at E-Zwich, Zenith Bank, GCB Bank and Barclays bank ATM posts at Sunyani Technical University (STU) has been killed by suspected armed robbers.

Dabila Sumaila who was in his 50s is believed to have been killed by the suspected robbers when they raided the ATMs.

Ark FM’s Ama Konadu who reported the incident from the crime scene on “Ark in the morning’’ said the deceased was found with his face covered with a jacket and hands and legs tied with a rope to a chair and table at a garage on the campus.

“The robbers succeeded in breaking into the ATM of the GCB but failed in their attempt at that of Barclays Bank. They covered the CCTV in the room with a piece of cloth”, she added.

Police from Sunyani Municipal Command led by the Crime Officer, Inspector Kingsley Wiredu arrived at the scene this morning and said police would send the deceased’s body to the morgue of the Brong Ahafo Regional Hospital for autopsy.
