Official: NDC Wins Sene West Seat With 16 More Votes after recounting

The National Democratic Congress(NDC) has won the parliamentary seat in the Sene West Constituency of the Bono East region.

This was after the Electoral Commission(EC) counted the only ballot box that was in contention and resulted in a legal tussle at the Wenchi High Court.

Counting of 83 out of 84 Polling stations gave the results as; Mr. Joseph Kumah Mackay of the NPP – 12,952 with Kwame Ampofo Twumasi of the NDC had 12, 841 with the Tato Battor polling station pending.
At the end of the collation in Techiman, the NDC’s candidate Kwame Ampofo Twumasi garnered 275 votes taking his final votes to 13,116 to beat the NPP’s candidate Mr. Joseph Kumah Mackay who polled 148 to get 13,116.

The declaration means the ruling NPP has 137 seats in parliament with the NDC now having 137 seats and one seat belonging to an independent candidate.

The parliamentary candidate for the NPP in Sene West, Joseph Markay Kuma, placed an injunction on the election after he expressed dissatisfaction with electoral irregularities in the constituency.

The party requested an injunction on the declaration of the parliamentary results in order to review the outcomes of the elections in the constituency.
