NDC will impeach Jean Mensa in 2021- Abraham Amaliba
NDC will impeach Jean Mensa: Lawyer Abraham Amaliba, Director of Legal Affairs of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has hinted that his outfit is preparing evidence to impeach the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Madam Jean Mensa if the power wins in 2021.
The NDC legal team member indicated that they have gathered enough evidence to remove the EC Chair.
“If we come to power and we also see that there is a need for a new register, we will also not hesitate to appoint new EC to compile a new register”, Abraham Amaliba told Opemsuo FM.
The immediate past EC Chairperson, Mrs. Charlotte Osei and two of her deputies, Amadu Sulley and Georgina Opoku Amankwa, were on Thursday, June 28 removed from office as Commissioners of the Electoral Commission (EC) by Nana Akufo-Addo on grounds of “stated misbehavior and incompetence.’’
“I don’t have the power to say I disagree with the Committee; the law does not give me the power to investigate on my own to say I disagree with the committee,” he told the gathering in Twi.
The chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Mrs. Charlotte Osei, and her two deputies, Amadu Sulley and Georgina Opoku Amankwaa have been removed from office with immediate effect.
Their removal was based on recommendations from the committee that investigated corruption and misconduct allegations against them.
