NDC Minority MPs boycott 2020 State of the Nation Address

There was drama in Parliament as the Minority members walked out of the chamber prior to the 2020 State of the Nation Address by President Akufo-Addo.

They were seen holding placards and dressed in black outfits while singing the national anthem after the President took his seat on Thursday, February 20.

They sang: “And help us to resist oppressors’ rule with all our will, and might forevermore.”

Reacting to the Minority MPs’ boycott in Parliament, the Majority MP members also chanted: “Away!”

“All for you. We dey wait you, Nana, we dey wait for you Nana Addo.”

Some Majority members crossed over to occupy the seats of the minority.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) MPs last week announced that they would boycott the 2020 SONA if the government failed to release five percent of the District Assemblies’ Common Fund (DACF).
