Nana Akufo-Addo and I have no blood relationship – CID Boss Tiwaa Addo-Danquah

The Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah has clarified that she has no blood relation with President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo.

According to her, the CID boss position had nothing to do with an alleged blood relationship between her and the President, rather, her competence got her the position.

A section of Ghanaians criticized the President for allegedly appointing his friends and family, including COP Tiwaa Addo-Danquah when she was appointed CID boss.

Meanwhile, COP Tiwaa Addo-Danquah explained on Atinka TV’s Big Stories on Saturday that she was a typical Ashanti and had no blood relation with the President.

She rather made it known that her surname, which matched the President’s name was one she acquired through marriage.

‘I am from Asante Akyem Banka, my father is from Nsuta Kwaamang, I am an Ashanti. Even though Banka is in Ashanti, My mother is a royal from Akyem Abuakwa and i do not know if that is what confuses people, but I do not have any blood relation with the President,” she said.

She even added that “Today is my 9th anniversary since I blessed my marriage. It is my husband whose name is Ofosu Addo-Danquah. My name is Maame Yaa Tiwaa. It was when I got married that I added the Addo Danquah.”
