Last batch of Akufo-Addo’s 275 Ambulances arrive at Tema Port

The much-awaited last batch of the 275 ambulances President Akufo-Addo promised have arrived at the Tema Ports.

The Ambulances which arrived late this morning is already branded with the National Ambulance Service in red while ‘Ministry for Special Development Initiatives’ is embossed in black by the sides.

“The ambulances are ready for use”, an official told MyNewsGh.com. He however indicated that they will have to be fitted with tracking devices before they are distributed.

This comes after President Akufo-Addo justified why 96 out of the 275 ambulances were currently parked at the State House and not being distributed, assuring Ghanaians that by the end of this month the remaining ambulances will come into the country to be shared.

Responding to a journalist’s question on the ambulances last week Friday, Akufo-Addo said he did not want to be accused ofbias, hence the delay in the distribution.

“The Minister for Special Development Initiative told me some of the ambulances were in and asked if she should distribute them and I said NO; she shouldn’t. She should wait for the others to come in so that we can distribute all at the same time”, he had said.

He promised to distribute the ambulances by January 6th 2020.

“Fortunately for us all of them will be in by the end of this month and on the 6th of January, I will commission them and the distribution will take place simultaneously and nobody will accuse me of favouritism, and so on. There is no justification on they being parked but if I was to send it here and not here I think you know the kind of discourse that will come,” he stated.

The president came under attack from many quarters following this comment. With the arrival of the second batch, each constituency is expected to get one ambulance.
