KNUST Provisional Fees for 2019/2020 Academic Year

Management of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has released the provisional fees schedule for the 2019/2020 academic year.

According to the fees schedule which has been published on the University’s website, continuing students will pay the same fees they paid in the 2018/2019 academic year.

Whilst the 2019/2020 academic year is just a few months from commencing, Parliament is yet to approve the 2018/2019 academic year fee schedule proposal from public universities.

Parliament delays approval of new fees

Management of some public universities in the country have called on Parliament to expedite action on the passage of the 2018/2019 academic year fees for tertiary institutions across the country.

According to them, the delay in the approval is putting major constraints on the finances of the universities and hampering their operations.

Following the 2016 amendment of the Fees and Charges Act 2009 (Act 793), all Vice Chancellors are to seek parliamentary approval for fees and levies they intend to charge before sending them out to students.

The Act seeks to safeguard the public against arbitrary charges and levying of students by universities.
