Gov’t receives the first batch of COVID-19 Vaccines today

Ghana will today February 24 receive its first batch of COVID-19 vaccines.

A statement from the Information Ministry said “The Government of Ghana will on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, receive the first batch of the Coronavirus vaccine at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra”.

“The Minister for Health-designate, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu (MP) will lead a government delegation to receive the vaccine at 7:00 am,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, there are worries by a cross-section of Ghanaians who believe that the vaccines are not the best for the people of Ghana and there is, therefore, the need to take the jab.

But some leading Parliamentarians have advised against that position and have indicated that they will take their jabs in public in order to do away with the perception and.

“As MP for North Tongu, I am absolutely ready for the COVID-19 vaccine when it gets to my turn. I look forward to publicly receiving the jab. I urge all my constituents and other compatriots to do same. Let us all do our best to boldly confront vaccine hesitancy. It is time to develop more confidence in our scientists and ignore the conspiracy theorists. Please help reach out to all “anti-vaxxers” with the obviously compelling scientific evidence and let’s #DefeatCOVIDTogether,” Okudzeto Ablakwa said in defence of the vaccines.
