Franklin Cudjoe’s IMANI receives Poor Rating among Thinks Tanks In Africa

Franklin Cudjoe’s IMANI receives Poor Rating: The IMANI Centre For Educational Policy has been rated poorly in the results table for African Think Tanks.

IMANI together with three other Think Tanks in Ghana are among the Think Tanks that has been rated as ” Highly Opaque”, which means, their ratings are poor.

The other two Ghanaian Think Tanks rated as Highly Opaque are, the Centre For Democratic Development (CDD) and the Centre For Policy Analysis.

The results table was categorized into three, namely,

  • Highly Transparent
  • Broadly Transparent
  • Highly Opaque

The other two Think Tanks in Ghana however got a very good rating as they were rated as Highly transparent and Broadly Transparent, the Institute For Statistical Social and Economic Research (ISSER) was rated as Highly Transparent whiles the Institute For Economic Affairs (IEA) was rated as Broadly transparent.

” The existence of highly transparent Think Tanks in Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, and South Africa clearly demonstrates that other African Institutions can excel in transparency”, the report said.

It further states that the three highly opaque Think Tanks in Ghana will now find it difficult to argue that, there is something unique about their Country that, prevents them from disclosing who funds them.

For the Think Tanks in Nigeria, the report states that think Tanks in Nigeria may want to reflect on why they cannot meet the high standards set by some of their peers in other large African states. Below is a copy of the rating table.
