Controller Withholds January Salaries of 2,563 Government Workers

The Controller and Accountant General’s Department has announced that salaries for Government of Ghana employees on the national payroll for January 2026 have been fully paid.

However, the Department has disclosed that the salaries of 2,563 personnel have been temporarily suspended following a recommendation by the Auditor General. The suspension affects workers who failed to participate in the nationwide headcount exercise conducted in 2025 by the Ghana Audit Service.

According to the notice, the affected staff are those who did not receive their January salary as a result of non-compliance with the mandatory verification exercise. These individuals have been advised to contact the Ghana Audit Service immediately to complete the required clearance and verification processes.

The Department explained that once the affected personnel complete the necessary steps, their details will be validated and their salaries reinstated accordingly.

The Controller and Accountant General’s Department reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and the timely payment of salaries, stressing that the measures taken are in line with Ghana’s Public Financial Management laws.

Government workers are therefore urged to take the necessary action promptly to avoid further delays in salary payments.
