Confusion rocks NDC in parliament as Haruna Iddrisu is being pushed away as the next minority leader

As The Battle For Who Leads The Minority Caucus Intensifies
While the entire nation’s attention might be on the rather violent agitations and protests against the outcome of 2020 elections by the opposition National Democratic Congress, the raging and thunderous wrangling amongst the Minority MPs may have eluded the general public.

The Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, who aims to continue as the leader of the side is being pushed away by two key MPs who also want to take the mantle of leadership of the opposition.
Mahama Ayariga, the Member of Parliament for Bawku Central and Rockson-Nelson Este Kwami Dafeamekpor, the Member of Parliament for South Dayi, have put up strong opposition to eliminate the Tamale South MP.

According to insider information, Haruna Iddrisu is being accused of being ‘friends’ with President Akufo-Addo, and that, they believe, accounted for why Haruna Iddrisu was ‘soft’ on the President.

“He has been too cozy with President Akufo-Addo. That affected his work and moving forward, we need a more attacking Minority Leader, the one who would not compromise his work with the friendship between him and Akufo-Addo. We need someone like Mahama Ayariga to do this job”, an aide to Mahama Ayariga stated.

The South Dayi MP, according to watertight information from his camp, believes that it is high time the Volta Region led the caucus in Parliament. He believes the support the party enjoys from the votes of the region is being taken for granted. The region must be rewarded, and it is believed that the South Dayi MP, who enjoys the support of the entire Volta caucus of Parliament, can best prosecute that agenda.

The Minority Leader, on his part, has stated that he has discharged his duties creditably and the same showed in the number of seats the party won in the just ended elections and must be supported to continue as the leader of the party in Parliament.

The coming days and weeks will be crucial as the scramble for who becomes the leader of the Minority intensifies.
