Asante Berko resigns from his position as the managing director of TOR

The Managing Director of Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) Asante Berko has tendered his resignation letter to President Nana Akufo-Addo with immediate effect after denying that he orchestrated a $4.5 million bribery scheme for Ghana’s government officials, MPs, and others so that energy company, AKSA Energy, could win a juicy government contract.

The announcement of his resignation has been made know in a release signed by Director of Communication at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, which stated that the President has accepted the MD’s resignation which he had tended earlier today.

His resignation comes as a surprise to many given that yesterday, he mounted a spirited denial of the allegations contained in court documents shared by United States Securities & Exchange Commission.
