ACP Agordzo denied bail again by Accra High Court

ACP Dr. Benjamin Agordzo, who has been accused of being involved in a coup plot, has been denied bail by the Accra High Court.

In a ruling on Monday [November 18, 2019], the court, presided over by Justice George Buadi, held that the application was premature because investigations were ongoing.

According to him, ACP Dr. Agordzo was a senior police officer, who could likely interfere with investigations.

“His status and experience might possibly be used to hamper and interfere with investigations. I shall refuse the application for now,” Justice Buadi ruled.

Bail application

The ruling by the court followed a bail application by ACP Dr. Agordzo’s lawyer, Mr. Martin Kpebu.

Counsel had prayed the court to grant his client bail because he was not a flight risk and had competent people to stand sureties for him.

According to counsel, his client never intended to organize or participate in any coup plot.
